Coming Out Strong is owned and operated by Brethren Mennonite Council for LGBT Interests. The blog strives to be a Safe Zone for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning individuals as well as their family, friends, and allies. We ask you, our guest, to strive for that as well. We also ask you to keep anti-gay, homophobic, and heterosexist attitudes and comments to yourself or, even better, rethink them. While we’re at it, we might as well try to avoid sexism, racism, classism, ableism, ageism, and xenophobia on this blog and in our daily lives.
We will start from the point of view that the value of equality and justice for the queer community in church and society is not itself a matter for debate and proceed from there. Please check your privilege at the door.
This blog is generally moderated from the BMC office. We are usually here Monday through Friday, 9-5 CST, (unless we’re not). If you write a post or comment and it doesn’t show up promptly, it may be stuck in the moderation queue until we get a chance to check it. Hopefully this doesn’t prove too frustrating for folks. If you have questions, please contact Reuben at 612.343.2060 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
